The University of California-Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (https://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/hospital/small-animal) is seeking a veterinarian board-certified or residency-trained and credentialed in the American College of Zoological Medicine with Zoological Companion Animal focus to join our Companion Exotic Animal Medicine & Surgery Service ( https://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/hospital/small-animal/cape) in a staff veterinarian position. Join our team of world-class specialists in this academic practice with a busy primary and tertiary-level caseload, and contribute to the diagnosis and care of zoological companion animal patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions. The UCD VMTH offers full advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities, as well as several specialty services including anesthesia, behavior, cardiology, dentistry, dermatology, neurology, nutrition, oncology, ophthalmology, soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, and an integrative medicine service. Our Companion Exotic Animal Medicine & Surgery Service team is active in a variety of cutting-edge endeavors encompassing aquatic animal medicine (primarily companion fish), small mammal dentistry procedures, rigid and flexible endoscopy, minimally-invasive surgery, interventional procedures, and advanced intra-operative imaging and fosters strong teamwork with the other clinical services.
Responsibilities will include primary clinician responsibilities to work closely and communicate with clients, and provide Patient care including examination, work up, diagnose, treat, prepare for and perform various diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures. The position includes supervision and provision of instruction in the form of rounds with professional DVM students in the Companion Exotic Animal Medicine & Surgery Service. The staff veterinarian will share primary responsibilities for after-hours and weekend on-call for the Companion Exotic Animal Medicine & Surgery Service with the residents, with assistance from students and back-up from faculty.

The is a contract position with 50% - 75% commitment. Position can begin September 1, 2018 through July 30, 2019. The continuation of the contract may be negotiated.
